Care Instructions – Dresses

A well-cared-for dress keeps its shape, color, and drape for years. Always check the care label inside your dress first, as it takes priority over general guidance.

General Care

• Wash inside out to protect the color and surface of the fabric
• Close all zips, buttons, and hooks before washing to avoid snagging
• Wash dark and bright colors separately, especially the first few times
• Use a gentle, mild detergent; avoid bleach and fabric softener on delicate fabrics
• Do not tumble dry unless the label allows it; air dry away from direct sunlight and heat
• Hang woven dresses on padded or shaped hangers; fold knit dresses

Knit & Sweater Dresses

• Hand wash in cold water or use the wool/delicate cycle
• Never wring or twist; gently press out excess water with a towel
• Always dry flat to prevent stretching, especially with long or midi lengths
• Fold and store in a drawer rather than hanging, to keep the shoulders and length in shape

Satin, Silk & Silky Dresses

• Dry clean or hand wash in cold water for best results
• Handle gently and avoid rubbing the fabric
• Hang to dry in the shade
• Steam, or iron inside out on the lowest setting

Cotton & Linen Dresses

• Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle
• Reshape while damp and hang to dry
• Iron on medium heat while slightly damp for a smooth finish

Chiffon, Lace & Embellished Dresses

• Dry clean recommended
• If hand washing, use cold water and a laundry bag to protect details
• Never iron directly over lace, sequins, or beading; steam from a distance instead

Lined Dresses

• Follow the care label carefully, as the lining and outer fabric may react differently to water and heat
• Dry clean is safest to keep the lining from shrinking or twisting

Good to Know

• Steam rather than iron to refresh delicate fabrics and remove creases
• Spot clean small marks with cold water before they set
• Store long dresses folded over the hanger bar or in a garment bag to avoid stretching and dust
• Let dresses rest between wears to help them keep their shape
